Abstract
In this paper we present an optical system capable of capturing images of remote scenes sensitive to naturally polarized light. Light polarization can be generated naturally due to reflection and scattering phenomena, which is exploited in our design. An image acquisition module capable of detecting the parameters of Degree of Linear Polarization (DoLP) and Angle of Linear Polarization (AoLP) was developed. The system includes a rotating linear polarizer, synchronized with a Red, Green, Blue (RGB) imaging system. RGB imaging system, mounted on a mechanical structure designed using 3D printing techniques. Synchronization and data acquisition were carried out using an Arduino-based IoT module controlled by Matlab. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the system for analyzing scenes with polarized light variations, showing its potential for remote sensing and remote analysis applications.
